On Tues., August 6th from 6-8 PM outside the Target near Jefferson Mall, I volunteered with Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) during the National Night Out event. LMAS sponsored a booth promoting dog and cat adoption through the Animal House Adoption Center at 3516 Newburg Rd, Louisville, KY 40218.

Three of the dogs available for adoption at Animal House were also on site for people to love on and pet including a Pit Bull mix and Boxer mix. I handled the third dog, a six year old Basset Hound Labrador mix and new Animal House arrival named Augie. I do not expect his stay to be long as I believe he will find his forever home soon. Augie is a very cute boy who is laid back, well behaved and good with children. He spent a lot of the time simply rolling around in the grass!

The care and placement of homeless and abandoned animals in permanent, loving homes is one of the core values at LMAS. Last year LMAS rescued just over 8100 dogs and cats. If you are looking to add a furry child to your family, I strongly encourage you consider adopting a pet through the Animal House Adoption Center. The adoption fees are reasonable and include spaying/neutering and standard vaccinations. Pet microchip service is also available at a very good price. Animal House is open Tuesday-Saturday from 12 noon – 6 PM and is open until 7 PM on Wednesday. For more information, click on Adopt Me!
